Woman sues late son’s wife for £40,000 after she ‘depicted her as uncaring monster-in-law’ in Facebook post

A WOMAN is suing her late son’s wife for depicting her as a “cruel, uncaring monster-in-law” in a post on Facebook.

Lynette Tattersall is demanding more than £40,000 in damages from Yvonne Tattersall, pictured above.

Emmy-winning costume designer Yvonne, 64, moved to Billington, Lancs, with husband Mick in 2012.

He died in late 2019 — leading to her row with his mum Lynette, 80.

Lynette claimed she provided the couple with “financial assistance” for years, including helping them to buy their house.

In 2021, she sued Yvonne and Mick’s estate, seeking a sale of the property to recoup her money.

Around that time, Yvonne put a post online, saying her mother-in-law had “tried to make me homeless and told lies about me”.

Lily Walker-Parr, representing Lynette at the High Court, said the claims “echoes the derogatory trope of the cruel uncaring mother-in-law”.

Yvonne, representing herself, said that the claims were justified as they are true.

The libel trial continues.
