Woman ‘sexually assaulted while sleeping on train’ as cops share CCTV of man they want to speak to

COPS have released a CCTV image after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted while she slept on a train.

The horror was said to have unfolded on a train from London to Manchester.

British Transport Police (BTP) have now released a snap of a man they wish to speak to.

The sex crime was said to have happened around 11.30am last Monday.

The woman told police the man boarded the train and sexually assaulted her while she slept.

She said she confronted the man, who then got up and walk along the carriage, before getting off at Manchester Piccadilly.

BTP have now released an image of a man they wish to speak to.

The force said in a statement: “Officers investigating a report of a sexual assault have today released this image in connection.

“Sometime between 11.30am and 12.30pm on Monday 24 June, a woman was traveling on a train from London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly.

“A man boarded the service, which had called at Nuneaton, Stoke and Stockport and sat next to her, sexually assaulting her while she slept.

“After she confronted him, the man got up and walked up the carriage, before leaving the train at Manchester Piccadilly.

“Officers believe the person in the image has information that could assist their enquiries.

“Anyone who recognises him or has any information is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 609 of 24 June.

“Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
