Who was Brian Posch and why do people think he is missing?

Who was Brian Posch?

Brian Posch was a 36 year old from Pennsylvania in April.

He lived at home with his wife Alanna and their one year old daughter Mila.

In his obituary, Posch was said to be someone who “has always been surrounded by countless friends.”

It added: “Brian had a strong passion for the outdoors. He spent his lifetime duck hunting, boating and dirtbike riding.

“Brian is a well respected foreman for Steamfitters Local 449. He was unquestionably happiest being with his wife Alanna and daughter Mila.”

What happened to Brian Posch?

Brian was reported missing to the Brighton Township Police Department after he failed to show up to work on Friday, April 5, 2024.

Four days later he found dead inside a submerged truck on Tuesday, April 9, in the Monongahela River.

At the time of his death, a GoFundMe page was set up for his wife and daughter which managed to raise $57, 587.

Why do people think Brian Posch is missing?

Four months after Brian passed away, posts of local Facebook groups have suggested that he is still missing but alive, but these claims are false.

One of the posts said: “HELP FIND HIM – 36-year-old Brian Posch went missing yesterday morning here in #Danielson.”

As well as: “HELP FIND HIM – 36-year-old Brian Posch went missing yesterday morning here in #limerick.”

Other posts also include false information such as his truck was found with his daughter inside and that a “silver alert” has been issued.

However, there are noticeable mistakes in the post such as using the name Keith and the date of disappearance being incorrect.

Social media users have now started to speak out about the fake posts that are circulating.

One person spoke out saying: “If you see a post saying that Brian Posch is missing, do not share!

“Instead, report the post to the group administrators. It is a scam. Sadly, Brian Posch is dead.

“He went missing April 5 and his body was found four days later. We feel so awful for his family who has to see this scam being posted over and over again. These scammers are sick.”

Posch’s family has also expressed their grief over the false claims.

A family member said: “We are already dealing with the loss of Brian. Seeing false claims about him being missing is heart breaking.”
