THE UK’s oldest silverback gorilla — a star of kids’ Tv — has died aged 42.
Pertinax became a celeb soon after his purpose as Hank in CBBC mockumentary The Zoo.
He was set to snooze at Paignton Zoo, Devon, immediately after failing to answer to treatment for an fundamental illness.
An online condolence e book was set up for fans of the light large.
The zoo explained: “We truly feel exceptionally privileged to have cared for Pertinax for just about a few a long time.

Pertinax — named following a Roman emperor — was born in Germany and sent to Paignton in 1997.
Silverback is the name specified to a dominant gorilla — and in 2006 Pertinax grew to become a mentor to younger males Kionodo, Kivu and N’Dowe.
When the boisterous trio grew up, Pertinax was moved to an island enclosure to “retire”.
Western lowland gorillas like him can reside to 50.
