BONKING Brits are bang average in bed with only half happy with their sex lives.

Just 56 per cent of sexually active people in the UK feel physically satisfied, a survey found.

That figure is exactly equal to the global average in the poll of nearly 30,000 people across 36 countries.

And it seems consulting the Kama Sutra could firm up our satisfaction, as India — home of the love-maker’s manual — ranked most satisfied with 76 per cent.

The Philippines, ­Mexico, Colombia and South Africa followed close behind on about 70 per cent.

Bog-standard Britain’s sexual satisfaction score has been boosted by about a third since 2006.

But we rate badly on emotional fulfilment, with just 51 per cent saying their needs are met — below the world average of 57 per cent.

Condom maker Durex ­carried out the study.

Ben Wilson, director of the brand’s owner Reckitt, said: “It’s really encouraging levels of sexual satisfaction are on the rise in the UK, but there is room for improvement.”

YouGov figures show ten per cent of Brits do it weekly, while 15 per cent do it more — and 30 per cent even less. A further 30 per cent have no sex at all.

Miranda Christophers, sex expert for menopause site Issviva, said: “Common reasons people are dissatisfied include the type of sex and the frequency they have it.”
