Jason Manford will be hosting the programme for the very first time after signing on as a guest co-host.

The funnyman will begin his presenting duties alongside regular show star Gaby Roslin this Friday.

Jason will feel right at home on the Manchester-based show thanks to being born in Salford and growing up in the city.

He will also be seen on the programme a second time next week on Wednesday 3 July when he will be accompanied by Helen Skelton.

Speaking of signing up to the show, Jason said: “I’m delighted to have been asked to guest co-host Morning Live this week.

“I always love supporting a Manchester based show and every time I’ve been on as a guest, the team have always been a real pleasure to work with.

“I’m looking forward to bringing a little chaos to the sofa once we go live!”

Morning Live’s executive editor Emma Morris went on to say of his appointment: “We are thrilled to be welcoming Jason to the Morning Live team in the coming weeks.

“He is already a good friend of the show and it goes without saying he’s an incredibly entertaining and experienced presenter. I just know our audience is going to love him!”

Jason’s show confirmation comes after leading male star Gethin Jones disappeared from screens last week.

Morning Live in major hosting shake up as three main presenters disappear from screens

The 46-year-old TV hunk completely vanished from the show last week.

His co-stars Helen Skelton and Michelle Ackerley were also missing which lead to less regular faces Gaby Roslin and Rav Wilding stepping in.

Gethin had been enjoying some time away in Ireland on a trip centred around his beloved rugby.

He also found time during his week off to hang out with celeb pals including Strictly Come Dancing host Janette Manrara.

Morning Live has gone from strength to strength since its launch and has gone on to become the UK’s biggest live daytime show – a crushing blow to its long-running rival This Morning.
