Who is Sanj Jandu?

Sanj Jandu is the wife of Dr Bobby Jandu, whose identity was at the center of a complex catfishing scandal.

The couple resides in Brighton and they have two children — a nine-year-old son and a five-year-old daughter.

Their son lives with cerebral palsy and is a wheelchair user.

Sanj has established herself as an author, having written a children’s book titled An Adventure A Day.

The book draws inspiration from her family’s experiences and aims to promote disability inclusion while changing perceptions about family life.

To generate interest and support for her book, Sanj launched a Kickstarter campaign.

She holds a masters in pharmacy, which she studied at the University of Nottingham, and also works as a clinical pharmacist in Brighton.

Catfish

The catfishing scandal revolved around Dr Bobby Jandu, whose identity was stolen and used to create a fake online persona.

Catfishing is a term used to describe luring someone into a relationship by creating fake social media profiles.

Kirat Assi believed she’d found the perfect man online and shared a ten-year relationship with Dr Bobby until the stomach-turning truth came to light.

She was being catfished by a member of her own family — the impersonator turned out to be Kirat’s cousin Simran Bhogal.

The deception was intricate and far-reaching, involving stories of witness protection, hospital stays and faked phone conversations — and they even became engaged.

Bhogal fabricated more than 50 fake identities in the elaborate scheme and manipulated her cousin emotionally, leading to prolonged and severe psychological distress.

Unexpected visit

Sanj found herself unexpectedly thrust into the spotlight when Kirat showed up on her doorstep.

Kirat had hired a private investigator to locate Dr Bobby and was shocked to find him living with his wife.

The catfishing victim accused the real Bobby of having been invloved with her for years.

Bobby denied the allegations, telling his wife she had never met the woman and had no idea who she was.

Sanj believed her husband and stood by him, with the truth eventually coming to light about the identity theft and years of deception targetted at Kirat.

While their story has garnered significant public attention through the Netflix documentary, Bobby and Sanj have chosen to stay out of the public spotlight.
