Jessica Simpson is opening up about her road to releasing new music again.
“Interviews in my Nashville music room where I unearthed my singular magic,” Simpson, 44, wrote via Instagram on Monday, November 11. “This comeback is personal, it’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve 🎶 🎼 🤍🖤.”
Alongside the message, Simpson shared several photos posing in an orange chair while wearing a lace white dress, black thigh-high boots and a black fur jacket.
Simpson, who has hits like “I Wanna Love You Forever” and “I Think I’m In Love With You,” last released an album in 2010 with Happy Christmas. More than a decade later, Simpson got candid about pondering a return to music.
“I’m doing this as a mother now, as a wife. I was a wife last time, but this is a very different marriage,” she told Bustle during a 2023 interview. “And they’ve never seen me do this.”
Less than a year later, Simpson uploaded a photo from a recording studio and seemingly hinted at her next endeavor. Her sister, Ashlee Simpson, confirmed exclusively to Us Weekly that Jessica was “in the studio.”
Ashlee, who teased that she would also be releasing new music soon, told Us in June, “So look at us both coming in. … There’s more to come and you’ll hear from Jess soon.”
Since taking a hiatus from music, Jessica has focused on her family — which includes son Ace, 11, and daughters Maxwell, 12, and Birdie, 5. Jessica shares her three kids with husband Eric Johnson, whom she wed in 2014.
“I don’t feel like our marriage has been long, but I feel like I’ve loved Eric my whole life,” Jessica exclusively told Us in April 2022. “I guess in the moment I met him, it felt like a marriage.”
She continued, “Eric and I set intentions, and we’re very good at manifesting our dreams. We’re very good at creating a safe environment for each other to be ourselves.”
While Jessica gushed to Us in 2018 that her kids are teaching her “so much about life,” the singer revealed that her eldest daughter may be following in her musical footsteps.
“She has a great voice,” Jessica told Us, adding that she would “absolutely” support Maxwell if she chooses to go down a similar path. “She’s pretty shy. Mom’s shy too, so you never know. You never know if you’re a born entertainer or not.”
