Paul at the presser
“I’ve been in this sport for four years, I’ve been so active. If people want to see more then give me a couple more months. I’m going to accomplish more,” Jake says.
Nakisa, his manager, says: “This young man who has four years in the sport just fought the baddest man on the planet on Netflix.
“And he took it all in like it was nothing. Now he’s going to do everything he has to do to become world champion.”
Suspension for Paul & Tyson
Mike Tyson and Jake Paul are both facing suspensions now that their huge Netflix fight is over.
Paul won their bout on points in what was an uninspiring contest in Texas.
The fight was a professional one and will go on both men’s records.
However, as a result, the pair could now be suspended.
This is because the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation will order them to rest up.
Both Tyson and Paul will have to rest for at least seven days.
The rules mean that the fighters will also be told to stay out the ring for three days for each round fought.
This means they are set to both be suspended for 24 days.
The regulations state: “Medical disqualification of a contestant is for their own safety and may be made at the recommendation of the examining physician or TDLR [Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation].
“A contestant who disagrees with a medical disqualification, medical suspension or rest period set at the discretion of a ringside physician or a disqualification or suspension set by the department may request a hearing to show proof of fitness.”
The punch stats
Well these make for pretty grim reading.
Mike Tyson landed a grand total of 18 punches across his 16-minute contest with Jake Paul tonight.
Paul landed 78.
Tyson vs Logan?
After the fight, Tyson brought up the idea of fighting Jake’s brother Logan next.
“I don’t know, it depends on the situation. I don’t think so, maybe his brother [Logan].”
Logan replied: ‘Mother I would kill you, Mike’.
How lovely.
Bite of the century
You may have spotted Tyson chowing down on his gloves for most of the fight.
Well, he’s explained it away in the most matter-of-fact way possible following his loss to Jake Paul.
No-love Bud
Terence Crawford isn’t reading from the script.
He wrote: “I love Mike Tyson, but they giving him too much credit.
“He looked like trash, to train that long and only throw 97 punches the whole fight is crazy. I’m just glad he didn’t get hurt out there.”
