Martino, 61, joined Argentine compatriot Lionel Messi at Inter Miami in July 2023.
And their impact was instant with the club putting together the best regular season in Major League Soccer history with 74 points – one better than New England Revolution in 2021.
But their hopes of winning the MLS Cup ended in a shock first-round exit to Atlanta United and Martino has opted to leave his contract a year early due to personal reasons, according to ESPN.
Miami, who are co-owned by David Beckham, will now begin their search for a new boss, who’ll have a star-studded squad including the likes of Messi, Jordi Alba, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets at their disposal.

Benitez, 64, is currently a free agent having been sacked at Celta Vigo in March 2024 following a run of five wins from 28 matches, which left his side two points above the relegation zone.
Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers is next at 5/2, ahead of Steve Cherundolo, who is currently in charge at Los Angeles FC where he won the MLS Cup in 2022.
With an influx of former Barcelona legends in the squad, it’s perhaps a surprise to see Xavi Hernandez available at 4/1 given his connections and availability following his departure from the Nou Camp earlier this year.
Zinedine Zidane and Thierry Henry follow next at 5/1 and 13/2 respectively, while Argentine Under-20s boss Javier Mascherano and Jim Curtin complete the market at 8/1 and 10/1.
