Alarms blared at HMS Collingwood in Fareham, Hants, as anyone in the Watson Corridor block was evacuated but no accidents had been described.

Sailors will continue to be in short term lodging though repairs are built.

The Royal Navy claimed: “There are no described injuries and we choose the health and fitness and basic safety of our staff significantly.”

The foundation, commissioned in 1939, is named right after Lord Collingwood, a naval officer associate of Lord Nelson.
