HEARTBREAKING tributes have been paid to an “inspirational” teen who died after being hit by a lorry on a major motorway.
Christopher Keenan, from Blantyre, was involved in a collision with a HGV on the M74 in Lanarkshire at around 3.10am on Saturday morning.
Mercy crews raced to the scene following reports of a man seen walking southbound on the motorway, near Junction Six for Hamilton.
Tragically, the 18-year-old could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement released through Police Scotland, his devastated family wrote: “We would like to thank everyone for their condolences. Christopher was a much loved son, brother, grandson and cousin.
“He was an inspiration to all that knew him, and he will be greatly missed by everyone.”
Enquiries are ongoing and officers continue to appeal for any witnesses to get in touch.
Sergeant John Houston said: “Our thoughts remain with Christopher’s family and friends at this very difficult time.
“I am urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw Christopher walking along the roadway, and has not yet spoken to us to please get in touch.
“We would also like to see any dashcam footage taken around the time of the collision on the M74 between junctions six and seven.
