Days of Our Lives star Brandon Beemer isn’t certain Kelly Monaco’s time on General Hospital has come to an end.

“I don’t think she’s really fully leaving,” Beemer, 44, exclusively told Us Weekly at the “Day of Days” fan event at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater on Saturday, November 2. “I mean, who knows? I didn’t think that [actor] Steve Burton was going to come back and Steve Burton went to Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives and back to General Hospital.”

For Beemer, who has been on more than 500 episodes of Days of Our Lives, saying goodbye to a soap opera doesn’t have to be a permanent thing.

“At some point, when somebody leaves, [you say] ‘Oh my God, I’m so sorry. You’re gonna be unemployed for maybe a year,’” he told Us. “You’ll end up coming back, otherwise another soap is gonna pick [Monaco] up.”

Joining the show in 2003, Monaco, 48, played Sam McCall in more than 2,000 episodes of General Hospital. News broke in August, however, that she would be leaving the show and her final episode — where Sam was killed off — aired in October.

In 2011, both Monaco and Beemer starred in the E! reality show Dirty Soap, which focused on the personal and professional lives of daytime soap opera stars and their off-screen time.

Martha Madison — who plays Beemer’s TV wife on Days of Our Lives — praised Monaco for her contributions to the soap opera genre. In fact, she would be more than supportive if the actress wanted to appear in Salem.

“She’s so wildly talented and I don’t know any of the reasons as to why she’s not on that show anymore, but definitely someone’s gonna scoop her up,” she exclusively told Us. “I would love to have her on Days of Our Lives. Her fan base is tried and true, and any show would be lucky to have them and her.”

Until then, the cast of Days of Our Lives is focused on celebrating 60 remarkable seasons of the show.

Over the weekend, fans came together in Los Angeles for Peacock’s annual “Day of Days” event. Guests were able to meet their favorite stars during autograph sessions. In addition, viewers were treated to a brand-new teaser of season 60.
