As well as most recently having hosted the morning programme on the main network, she launched the breakfast show on its dance music spin-off to a roaring success.

Rio shared a slew of her best clips from her time at the station as she opened up on deciding to walk away.

Writing on Instagram, Rio said: “So the news is out! I’m leaving Capital.

“What a BEAUTIFUL 6 years it’s been. So many of my dreams came true here at Capital. I’ve gotten to connect with so many of you through the airwaves, I’ve hosted Capital’s Jingle Bell and Summertime Balls (I was on stage in front of 80,000 people at Wembley and I’ve launched a breakfast show on a brand new station Capital Dance- the list goes on!

“I’ve loved every second! I’ve decided to step away because I’ve always wanted life to be about experiencing as much as possible so I’m going to take some time out to work on my next adventure.

“THANK YOU so much to everyone who’s listened and laughed with me over the years and THANKYOU to everyone that has made this possible.”

Rio’s departure at the station comes as show bosses announced a huge line-up switch at the radio station.

The shake-up’s centre around returning host Sian Welby.

The star has been on maternity leave from the Breakfast show after welcoming her first child earlier this year.
