A BRITISH man has tragically died after being hit on the head with a hoe by a raging neighbour amid a heated row.
The man was rushed to a nearby hospital with severe head injuries but was later pronounced dead by the medical staff.
Cops have now arrested a suspect following the assault in the small town of Zurgena in south-east Spain.
The incident is understood to have occurred after the Brit man’s neighbour got upset with him for walking his dog near his home.
He then allegedly ran out of his property to attack him with the fatal garden tool.
Investigative officials said the man was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide following the attack.
He is now facing a new upgraded charge of homicide, it is understood.
A spokesman for the Spanish Civil Guard said: “It is now a matter for the court which has launched an ongoing investigation.”
It is not known if the dead Brit lived permanently in Zurgena or had a holiday home in the area.
The town, which has a population of just under 3,000, is located in the Almanzora valley close to the towns of Albox, Huercal-Overa and Los Carasoles.
