Love Island UK alum Tasha Ghouri slayed her latest Strictly Come Dancing routine even after a slight malfunction with her cochlear implant.

“Her implant came off for a couple of seconds,” Tasha’s pro partner, Aljaz Skorjanec, said after they performed on the Saturday, November 30, live BBC broadcast.

At the end of the number, Tasha, 26, popped her implant back on.

Tasha, who is deaf and uses the electronic implant to help pick up sounds, danced an impressive Argentine tango to “Ex-Wives” from the Tony-winning musical Six. To match her purple jumpsuit, Tasha’s implant was covered in a matching sparkly skin.

Technical malfunction aside, Tasha and Alijaz’s routine earned a 38 out of 40 from the judges and placed them at the top of the “Musicals Week” leaderboard.

“Hello everyone, hope you all enjoyed our dance,” Tasha said in an Instagram Story video later that night. “This week has been very challenging and it’s been such an honor to do Six, as well. It’s the first time on Strictly a couple [has danced] to Six.

She added, “I went to see Six on Tuesday; I felt so inspired. It gave me so much inspiration going into our Argentine tango and the story behind it about women’s empowerment. We should be lifting each other up, not seeing who had it worse. I loved the whole storyline of Six. It truly was beautiful to connect with the [actresses] as well, to chat with them.”

Tasha further noted that she “just can’t believe” that she made it to the quarterfinals on Strictly Come Dancing.

“I really hope you all enjoyed the dance and thank you for the support and love,” she concluded.

Tasha, who met boyfriend Andrew Le Page on season 8 of Love Island UK, has been candid about what it’s like to dance with her cochlear implant all season long. In fact, the costume team has also made sure that it matches her outfit during each routine.

“I’m in my costume [and] gonna put on my glittery blue skins ‘cause I wanna match the whole baby blue vibes,” she said in a September TikTok video. “Just peel it off [and stick it onto the implant.] I love the glittery, it’s giving a Strictly cochlear implant.”

At the time, she noted that using “double-sided boob tape” helps make sure the implant stays in place during routines.

“I stick it on the inside,” Tasha added. “And just like that, I can now hear. I am back on.”
