A TEEN schoolgirl has died after a “medical emergency” at a rugby club – with cops probing the “unexplained” death.
The 14-year-old girl died in hospital after she became unwell at the rugby club in Ammanford, south Wales on Friday night.
She was treated by paramedics after an emergency helicopter landed on the pitch.
The tragic youngster, who has not been named, was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead the following morning.
Her death is being treated as “unexplained” and a file has been passed to the coroner.
Amman United Rugby Football Club has postponed all matches across the weekend as a mark of respect.
Dyfed Powys Police said: “We were called on Friday evening, November 15, to a report of a medical emergency in the Ammanford area.
“A female teenager became unwell and was taken to hospital where, sadly, she passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning.”
The force added: “Our thoughts remain with the family at this difficult time.
“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and a report will be prepared for HM Coroner.”
The Welsh Ambulance Service said an ambulance, first responders and an air ambulance were called to the club at 9.55pm.
Amman United RFC said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances the club will be closed – and all games are postponed – out of respect.”
