Onama wins
All three judges saw the contest in favour of Ugandan David Onama, scoring the contest 30-27 in his favour.
Onama vs Romero – Round 3
Romero has slowed down drastically and is no longer bobbing and weaving as much as he did in the early goings of the contest.
Onama is picking his shots from range trying to frustrate the Mexican, who continues to go to the inside low kick well.
Romero partially lands a head kick by Onama and takes it well before pressing him up against the cage and securing a takedown.
Onama, however, is unable to do anything with the position and stands back to his feet before the final horn.
Onama vs Romero – Round 2
The crowd give the pair a rousing reception before the restart and they soon begin trading heavy leather again.
Onama is getting the better of the exchanges here an doing damage with straight lefts when he switches to southpaw.
Romero, however, continues to come forward and throw heavy shots.
Romero gets grounded and is fending off Onama’s attacks from full guard.
The horn goes seconds after they return to their feet.
Onama vs Romero – Round 1
Both men are feinting early trying to get a read on one another.
Onama is switching stances as he tries to close range. A hard low kick lads for Romero, who doubles up a few seconds later.
He’s chopping the lead leg of the Ugandan, who would be wise to start checking some of the kicks.
Romero is throwing with bad intentions, putting everything into these shots.
Romero hurts Onama with a right hand and drops him with a hook a few seconds later.
He jumps on his back but Onama defends the rear-naked choke attempt manages to get back to his feet.
Onama briefly puts Romero in a D’Arce but the Mexican defends the choke well.
Onama comes rip roaring back in the final ten seconds, dropping the Mexican with a stiff straight right before the horn.
