Drew Barrymore’s sit-down interview with Martha Stewart is heating up the Internet.
During the Tuesday, November 12, episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the show’s host appeared to get a little touchy when discussing what made Stewart “soft and gooey” on the inside.
“Soft and gooey treatment,” Stewart, 83, responded before Barrymore, 49, clarified, “When you’re treated like a lady.”
As the host touched Stewart’s shoulder, the lifestyle guru playfully pushed her away while saying, “You’re the wrong gender.”
After faux-collapsing backwards on the couch, Barrymore replied, “I know! Although, the way it’s going with men, Martha, I’m not so sure anymore.”
The clip quickly began to spread online with many viewers commenting on the spontaneous moment.
“I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE NEED TO PET OTHER PEOPLE. IT ALWAYS FEEL STRANGE TO ME,” one user wrote via X. Another fan, however, saw the interaction a different way, writing, “They were clearly playing around. It’s crazy how ya’ll try to make drama out of literally anything.”
Us Weekly has reached out to The Drew Barrymore Show for comment.
In another portion of the interview, Stewart was joined by her former Saturday Night Live impersonator Ana Gasteyer. When asked about the worst date she’s been on, Stewart immediately recalled a night out that went south very quickly.
“I’ve been on so many [bad dates] I can’t even enumerate,” she said. “I went out to dinner with one guy and this was when I was doing the dating apps. I was forced to do this for a gig. We went to a very hard-to-get-into restaurant and we were treated extremely nicely and we didn’t even have to pay because it was part of the gig. He didn’t leave a tip and that was no good. That sealed the moment.”
Stewart previously married her first and only husband Andrew Stewart in 1961. They were together for nearly three decades before divorcing in 1990. Their love story is explored in the new Netflix documentary titled Martha.
As Stewart remains single, there is one thing she is not interested in when looking into eligible bachelors. According to the Martha: The Cookbook author, she cannot be with an idle man.
“A man not doing anything? No,” she shared. “And they don’t interest me. I wouldn’t think of it.”
Barrymore advised her guest to follow the motto of, “If you don’t work, we don’t work.”
