THE Dior Saddle bag is a hugely popular designer staple that so many fashion influencers have been seen sporting over the years.
While the handbag may be on plenty of wishlists, the £3,000 price tag left me searching for an alternative – and River Island has the perfect dupe.

Black RI Monogram Shoulder Bag, £38
River Island’s RI Monogram Shoulder Bag looks almost identical to Dior’s Saddle Bag with a strap, but it is a fraction of the price.
River Island’s sleek design costs £38, while the designer alternative fetches £3,450.
This means the high street alternative I am (quite frankly) obsessed with, would save shoppers over £3,400 – it’s simply a no-brainer.
Even if you compared the high street design to the luxury label’s Small Saddle Bag, which costs £3,050, it is still a saving of thousands of pounds.
River Island’s RI Monogram Shoulder Bag is available in black and cream colourways, while Dior’s design is available in different colours, fabric textures, sizes and prints too.
The RI Monogram Saddle Bag features the similar D-shape body, as well as two straps to wear as a handbag, over the shoulder, or across the body, which is also similar to the Dior version.
The main difference here is River Island’s adjustable long length cross body strap is a fabric texture, instead of continuing the same leather fabric of the top handle, which Dior’s designs does and creates a nice unity.

Another noticeable difference is River Island’s Dior Saddle bag-inspired creation is made from a jacquard fabric with the brand’s signature logo woven in.
Whereas Dior’s Saddle Bag has been crafted from grained calfskin, and features antique gold finished details, such as on the handle and branding – hence the premium price tag.
Having said that, some Dior Saddle bag designs are made from canvas fabric, and emblazoned with Dior’s signature logo.
River Island’s bag features a main compartment, with an internal zip fastening inner pocket, plus an exterior slip pocket on the back of the bag, which is the same set-up as Dior’s designs.
I love a pocket when I am shopping for bags, as I like everything to have it’s own compartment, so I am pleased to see River Island has maintained this.
Both designs can be styled with any outfit, from a pair of jeans and a crisp white shirt to a cosy knit and leather jacket.
Even your comfy jogger tracksuit and a trench coat could be worn with the versatile handbag, which is guaranteed to elevate any look.
The likeness is uncanny, and if it means a huge saving I am instantly grabbing the budget-friendly River Island option.
I love it when high street buys look designer – and so does my bank account.
