Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 gambit pays off for Xbox as Game Pass subscribers rise drastically

MICROSOFT made history last year when it purchased Call of Duty publisher Activision Blizzard for a shocking $69billion.

While the company promised that the same version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 would be available across all platforms, there is still a benefit for Xbox players.

Xbox has added Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 to its highest subscription tier, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

If people want to play Call of Duty online, which is how most people play, they need to be subscribed to Game Pass.

Every tier of the subscription enables online play, but only Ultimate allows you to play Black Ops 6.

In a report by GI.biz, analysts suggest that the inclusion of Black Ops 6 has driven millions of people to sign up for Game Pass Ultimate.

This is a massive boost for the platform, which recently received a huge price increase particularly at the Ultimate tier.

It is said that about three to four million players have opted to subscribe to Ultimate in order to play Black Ops 6.

A survey conducted by the outlet suggests that up to 70% of Call of Duty players will be using Game Pass Ultimate to access the game.

On top of this, almost 8% said they were purchasing an Ultimate subscription solely to play Call of Duty.

While Black Ops 6 is believed to have increased Game Pass subscriptions, it likely lost sales from Xbox players.

Last year, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 disappointed players with reused maps and very little new content.

However, Black Ops 6 has been very popular with players, and people are saying it’s a return to form for the series.

We’re so Back Ops

Xbox clearly restructured Game Pass and increased the price with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 in mind.

The company would have anticipated both the fall in sales and the increase in Game Pass subscriptions and is clearly happy with the trade off.

The addition of Call of Duty to Game Pass is obviously strong for subscribers as they can grab what will likely be one of the most popular games of the year for free.

While the price of Game Pass has hugely increased, for many Call of Duty players it will be worth it.
