Horror as woman is hit and killed by bus in middle of busy city centre in ‘tragic accident’

A WOMAN has been hit and killed by a bus in the middle of a busy city centre.

The bus and the pedestrian collided on Lower Parliament Street, in the centre of Nottingham, at 6.05am today.

The woman, in her 30s, was treated at the scene but died a short time later.

A police cordon remains in place around the area between Milton Street and Glasshouse Street.

Drivers have been advised to avoid the area.

Chief Inspector Dean Gallacher said: “This was a tragic incident and we are currently working to understand exactly what happened.

“The road will remain closed for some time as investigation work is carried out and we advise drivers to avoid the area until further notice.”

Any witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting incident 72 of 22 October 2024.

Nottingham City Transport (NCT) has reported there are “severe delays” to its services due to the incident, including several alterations to their stops.
