SEVERAL people are reportedly dead and others left seriously injured after a stabbing rampage at a festival in Germany this evening.
A man is said to have begun attacking passersby at random in the city of Solingen, around 25km from Dusseldorf, at 9.45pm local time.
Dozens of emergency workers are at the scene.
The police have declared a major incident.
The attack took place at celebrations for the city’s 650th anniversary at the Fronhof as part of the Festival of Diversity.
An area near the church square remains cordoned off and a situation centre has been set off at the Café Kersting, according to the Solinger Togeblatt.
The suspect fled the scene, witnesses told the outlet.
