A SCHOOLGIRL has been stabbed in a block of flats with a man and woman arrested.
The youngster was found wounded at a property on Gilder Close in Christchurch, Dorset, at 5.45pm yesterday.
The girl is understood to be eight years old according to the Bournemouth Daily Echo.
She was taken to hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening, said cops.
Dorset Police arrested a man in his 20s, from Christchurch, on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
A second local, a woman in her 50s, was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and both remain in custody.
An air ambulance was spotted landing near the scene after the horror yesterday.
The block of flats was cordoned off into the night as officers conducted door-to-door inquiries.
Meanwhile, crime scene investigators forensically examined inside and outside the flats.
Cops are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
Chief Superintendent Stewart Dipple said: “There is an increased policing presence in the area as officers conduct enquiries at the scene.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area and saw what happened, or has information to assist our investigation, to please come forward.
“Our enquiries are in the early stages and we would ask the public not to speculate at this time about the circumstances of the incident.
“I understand this will cause concern and we will have members of the neighbourhood policing team out on patrol over the coming days who can be approached by the public.”
