TikToker Ashley Quillin (@ashquillin5) spilled the beans in a video on the social media platform.

“When you’re sick of the mosquitos eating you alive,” read the text.

The outdoor scene appeared serene, with her partner sitting at the table with her.

“We learned at Hilton head [that] bubbles keep the mosquitos away,” she added.

BUG OFF

The camera zoomed in on a bubble machine, allowing plenty of bubbles to float in.

While there are mixed reviews whether or not bubbles are proven to keep mosquitos away, some believe it is the air produced by bubble machines that make mosquitos fly off.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends using insect repellant, wearing protective clothing, and to use screens on windows.

Many swear by essential oils, such as citronella, which are commonly sold as mosquito repellants.

Several TikTokers chimed in on the technique in the comments section of the video.

“It’s very pretty,” one wrote, with Quillin replying, “I know, right?”

Some said they couldn’t find a hack that was effective for them, so they gave up.

“Nothing works, so we screened in our back porch to make it usable,” one commented.

“This is goals,” Quillin wrote back. “But until then we will enjoy the bubbles.”

Others were seeking a method that will actually help.

“I live in Florida and have that premium blood that they love so much,” another wrote. “Please tell me this works.”

“Worked for us,” Quillin replied. “I hope it does for you as well.”

“Now I’m fighting with my husband about getting a bubble machine,” yet another commented.

Some had ideas to take the bubble machine a step further and really keep mosquitos off.

“Add essential oil to the bubble mixture,” one commented, with Quillin calling it a “good idea.”

“I wonder if adding vanilla extract to the bubble machine would work? I wear vanilla body spray all the time and they leave me alone,” one more said.
